Soohee Chae holds a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and has devoted her life to working with young children across diverse cultural settings. She began her professional journey in Korea, where she taught young learners in early childhood classrooms and gained deep insight into children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development. Her work later expanded internationally as she led storytelling programs and summer Sunday school classes for children across Latin America. Through stories, art, and gentle guidance, she helped children express their feelings, imagination, and faith. In addition to her work as an educator and storyteller, she studied theology and served for many years as a Sunday school pastor, accompanying children during important moments of growth and offering care, encouragement, and meaningful stories centered on kindness, empathy, and hope. Drawing from her experiences as a teacher, storyteller, and pastor, she creates books that speak softly yet deeply to children and the adults who care for them. Her stories are shaped by years of listening to children’s voices and observing how stories can comfort, guide, and inspire. She is the mother of four grown children who now live across the United States. She currently lives in sunny Miami with her husband, her cat Romi, garden trees, visiting birds, and tropical fish. She believes stories can help children grow into kind and thoughtful people who love books, nature, themselves, and their neighbors. This book is inspired by meaningful moments from her own family and celebrates love, connection, and the quiet ways family bonds grow stronger through everyday life. When our first daughter was born, the very first thing her father said was, “She has my father’s eyes.” From that day on, whenever she showed a beautiful trait, he proudly said she took after his family and after him. Sometimes his words felt amusing. Sometimes they felt sweet. And sometimes they felt a little overexcited. But over time, I began to understand something deeper. Through our daughter, he was gently easing the longing he carried for the family who lived far away. As he watched her grow, he also revealed the love he had received from his own family and the love he continued to carry for them in his heart. This story reflects those quiet moments when love is passed down, remembered, and shared through the simple and beautiful journey of watching a child grow. Thoughtfully created for children ages 4 to 8, a stage when imagination and emotional understanding grow quickly, this gentle story helps young readers explore feelings, empathy, and curiosity through relatable family experiences. It is a comforting book for bedtime reading, classroom sharing, and meaningful family story time.
