Because they are cramming for final exams.    I read the scriptures twice, almost every day. In the morning, I pray, read the scriptures, and then pray again. Mostly, I don't put in a shopping list and ask to know His will and the power to carry that out. Instead, it prepares my mind for deeper insights and understandings. Curious as all water leads down to the sea. (Moby Dick). But after much investigation, it turns out to be the shallow waters or the only fording place of the Jordan, known as the Beth-barah. So Gideon was going to drive the Midianite kings south into Ephraim's waiting arms, like hounds to the hunter, intriguing.   The other scripture that captivated me was after Gideon, and his 300 starving men conquered 15000 in a secure location.
