“ It’s not post-apocalyptic, it IS the apocalypse!” The sky turned absolute pitch black. Every artificial light went out. Cell phones, electrical lights, TVs, appliances, machinery; all failed and stopped working instantly. The world was plunged into complete darkness whether day or night. Only candles, fires, and natural light remained to cast what little illumination they could. Then came the monsters. Dawn of the Eschaton is a Tabletop Role-playing Game (TTRPG) set in our current present day immediately after something very bad has happened. The world is now engulfed in complete darkness. No sunlight, moonlight, or stars shine anywhere. Electricity has stopped functioning. Literally current does not flow through electrical wires. Any source of light, typically from a flame, penetrates the darkness just mere feet as if the air itself is thick with never ceasing darkness. Plants will soon be dead and strange mushrooms and other fungus is sprouting everywhere. Most animals have either died or seemed to have simply vanished. Not all animals are gone, however. As if by some force of the darkness itself a few animals have quickly changed. Having traded their herbivorous nature in for vicious meat-eating terrors. Food is quickly becoming scarce as it gets consumed by the roaches that seem to be able to chew their way through almost anything. Supernatural monsters now hide in basements and closets or prowl the streets looking for humans to kill. This is our current modern world that has been radically twisted in strange unnatural ways. Just surviving and living for a few more hours is a huge accomplishment. Every morsel of food, every sip of water, and each moment where something horrible isn't chasing you is to be treasured and cherished. The air itself feels thick and seems to drink up the light. As if darkness isn't just merely the absence of light, but an actual physical property that surrounds all. Anyone trying to survive this pitch black nightmare has to worry about not just food and water, but also the monsters. Danger could be around any corner. The terrors that roam the land are unspeakable and relentless. Monsters aren't imaginary anymore. Features a unique d6 dice pool system, very permissive 3rd party license, and hours of fun!
