Dining with Elephants is as much a memoir as it is a cookbook. This book is a collection of stories - humorous, heartwarming, and often humbling - of 27 years of living with the most majestic creatures. A story of resilience, survival, and connection between humans and animals in the wilds of Africa. These gentle giants have been my inspiration. They gave me the strength to face adversity and the courage to overcome the toughest beginnings. They have given me the passion to fight for a better future for Thula Thula, for its animals, its land, and its people.Together, with my dedicated team, we built something greater than a game reserve. We built a family. And we did it the way the elephants do. With unity, empathy, and loyalty, for the greater good. Elephant social behaviour has taught me that life should be all about caring, giving, helping, and sharing. And that, too, is what creating the best food is all about. Françoise Malby Anthony was born in France. After earning a Master's in business administration, she built a successful international career before moving to South Africa in 1987 with her husband, the late conservationist and bestselling author, Lawrence Anthony. Together they founded Thula Thula in 1998, a wildlife reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, which Francoise continues to run today. After Lawrence's passing in 2012, Françoise created the South African Conservation Fund, a non-profi t company dedicated to wildlife protection, habitat expansion, and community education. She also established the Thula Thula Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Volunteers Academy, an educational centre welcoming volunteers from around the world. Françoise is the author of two international bestsellers, An Elephant in My Kitchen and The Elephants of Thula Thula, both published globally. In recognition of her work in wildlife conservation, she was honoured by France as Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite and recipient of the Prix du Public des Trophées des Français de l'Étranger. She continues to inspire global awareness of wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.
