Divine Justice is the special prerogative of theology, but Murtada Mutahhari is exceptional. In this book he chooses to approach the subject from an altogether different perspective. He uses philosophical methods to solve the problems and questions that surround the issue of Divine Justice - such questions as have beset humankind from time immemorial. The success of his efforts are seen in the fact that his book has become a classic of contemporary Islamic literature. Morteza Motahhari (31 January 1919 1 May 1979) was an Iranian cleric, lecturer, and politician. Motahhari is considered among the important influences on the ideologies of the Islamic Republic. He was a co-founder of Hosseiniye Ershad and the Combatant Clergy Association (Jame'e-ye Rowhaniyat-e Mobarez). He was a disciple of Ayatollah Khomeini during the Shah's reign and formed the Council of Revolution of Iran at Khomeini's request. He was chairman of the council at the time of his assassination.
