Also known as satin flower or farewell-to-spring, Godetia is an improved wildflower that is native to the Pacific northwest. Its Latin name "Clarkia" was chosen in honor of Captain William Clark, who along with Meriwether Lewis, led the famed Lewis and Clark expedition across the western United States in 1804-1806. Double Azalea Godetia grows 12 to 24" tall producing beautiful bi-colored flowers in shades of pink, purple, and red. Plants have a mounding habit with flowers borne in clusters at the end of the branches for a showy effect. Flowers within a single cluster bloom in succession over a period of several days, lengthening the vase life of this beloved cut flower. Godetia performs best in cooler climates and does not tolerate hot weather during flowering. We have, however, found that providing some shade during the hottest part of the day preserves floral development. Blooms spring to summer. Each packet contains a minimum of 250 seeds.
