My first book is a memoir of my life from age 2 to 75, a unique story of a boy born on a farm in Southern Minnesota, very near the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Gary helps tend the diversified dairy farm, along with his 5 siblings in rural New Prague, and of course, his parents, Joe and Lillian, conservative, Czech descendant Catholics. The story is about hope and perseverance, "coming out" stories which occurred mostly in the 70's and 80's during the sex, drugs, and rock and roll decades. Being actively involved in the gay scene in Minneapolis as a Catholic School teacher and principal made for some interesting juxtapositions in life, including the decade of AIDS, the 80's. After the sudden passing of Gary's beloved and loved parents in the early 2000's, he quits, sells, and gives away everything and moves back to Brazil to the life of liberty he had always dreamed about. With many ups and downs along the way, he discovers himself, hosteling, and 6 continents, 50 countries, especially São Paulo and Fortaleza, Brazil, and visits beloved Minnesota and family once or twice each year, on less than $2000.00 per month. My main goal of this book is to give hope to young lgbtq folks, their parents, relatives, and educators, to never quit, never give up, for certainly acceptance grows and it does get better, and easier, the more we come out and speak up against discrimination and for respect, kindness, and equality...FOR ALL! Hope and perseverance are the premise in the title : DREAMS CAN, AND DO, COME TRUE, by Gary Sticha
