This fourth edition electronic book is a complete revision of the third edition printed book with the ISBN: 978-0-9965437-6-7. My continued study of the sacred Hindu literature has enhanced my understanding, and as a result extensive changes have been made throughout the book.Veerashaiva philosophy and practices existed prior to Basavanna’s reformation of Veerashaivism in the 12th century CE. Philosophical thoughts and religious practices of Veerashaivism are traceable to the Rigvedic period. The Rigveda period had been well established during the period prior to 3,100 BCE. Most of the important Veerashaiva concepts have been taken from the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, and the Upanishads. More importantly, Veerashaiva Philosophy and Veerashaiva practices have evolved from what is in the Upanishads. Many concepts have remained the same, but many more have been modified into the present day form. This book explains how the evolution of the Veerashaiva concepts has taken place by going through the sacred Hindu scriptures.
