Throughout his lifetime, Father Gracián devoted himself to molding the men of his time, and to this day, his influence remains strong. I made a vow many years ago to show my appreciation for the profound effect he had on my life by translating all seven of his masterpieces into English. I am pleased to announce that I have accomplished this feat, including the complete trilogy of El Criticón . Looking ahead, my plan is to publish one to two books each year, with El Héroe being my third release. El Héroe: The Valiant Hero is the first of Father Gracián's seven masterpieces and my personal favorite. Within its twenty concise yet profound chapters, El Padre imparts wisdom on the twenty primary virtues that are required for a man to embody the qualities of a Valiant Hero with the Heart of a King. Additionally, throughout the translation process, I aimed to create an experience where readers would feel as though Father Gracián himself was present in the room, speaking directly to them and guiding them on the path to becoming a Maximum Man. I am confident that this book, if you choose to internalize its teachings, will help cultivate the qualities of a Valiant Hero within you. Entitled El Oráculo Manual y Arte de Prudencia: The Art of Worldly Wisdom (1647) , I am certain that my translation of Father Gracián's 300 aphorisms will provide fresh insights to his most famous masterpiece. Furthermore, my edition will feature "Gracián's Recollections," letters attributed to Father Gracián that have been meticulously reconstructed by J. Leonard Kaye. These letters offer additional perspectives on Gracián's life and writings and were drawn from Kaye's seminal work, The Wisdom of Baltasar Gracián (New York, POCKET BOOKS, 1992). Until then...
