It is imperative to know the history of United States citizens who worked diligently to bring about change in the form of equality to this country. Often times, history books choose who they would like to celebrate. Unfortunately, this results in children knowing very little about the complex history of the United States, nor can they identify any Black historical figures besides Dr. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman. While these people should be honored, there are countless contributions, and thus countless stories that remain untold. This book, ultimately culminating into a series, will bring to light strong leaders who made huge impacts in their communities and or the world at large.
