The story of Elsie & The Pirate Dinosaurs was written to address the very first place that young children often learn to interact with other people: at home with their siblings. A bit of silliness both in writing and in the artwork will draw the reader in while relating to the reality of sibling rivalry. My hope in writing this story is to relate to an audience who has felt annoyed by a brother or sister and encourage them that Jesus’ command to love their neighbors includes their siblings. As Elsie finds a creative way to love her brothers, the audience will be reminded that our neighbors’ differences aren’t a bad thing and that loving one another can be as simple as giving them a bit of our time.
