This book consists of 10 volumes, containing 290 functional words (words in different styles of calligraphy compiled into one article). The book contains the research achievements from books like On Differences of Structural Word by Liu Qi, Notes of Classics and Commentaries by Wang Yinzhi, Examples for Confusing Words in Ancient Books by Yu Yue, Ci Quan and Advanced Ancient Chinese Grammar by Yang Shuda, The New Dialects by Zhang Binglin, Complementary to Notes of Classics and Commentaries by Sun Jinshi and among them this book mainly based on Notes of Classics and Commentaries by Wang Yinzhi. All the quotations from those books are explained. The order of the arrangements imitates the order of Notes of Classics and Commentaries listed according to the 36 letters. This book shows the different usages of each item followed with examples from books in the Qin and Han Dynasties and also getting supports from books in later times. The main purpose of this book is to complement the books of Liu, Wang, Yu, Yang, and it focus on the confusing functional words from ancient books, so some common functional words are not included and neither the common usages of the functional words. But the book includes words which are very hard to explain thus making this book a unique reference book.
