Travis Air Force Base, 1974. The same tarmac where F. Scott Morgan departed for his first tour of duty in Vietnam now marks his return, but this time, everything is different. The war has changed, the missions are shrouded in secrecy, and the man he was is a distant memory. Morgan is a seasoned warrior, but he is also haunted by the choices he has made and the love he left behind. As he flies deeper into the heart of darkness, he discovers that the greatest battles are often fought within. "Flight to Gold" follows Morgan as he confronts the echoes of his past while facing the uncertainties of his present. Amidst the chaos of war, Morgan finds himself drawn into a web of intrigue, seduced by a woman who is not who she says she is, undertaking a dangerous mission to recover stolen gold, and fighting to stay alive. Will he find redemption in the skies, or will the ghosts of Vietnam claim him forever: "Flight to Gold" is a thrilling tale of courage, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love, set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War's lingering shadow. "I first knew Grover as an outstanding RF-4 Flight Leader. I was his wingman on an epic delivery of two brand new McDonnell Douglas RF-4E Phantoms to Tehran, Iran in 1976, when that country was still our friend. Grover skillfully and wisely handled the unexpected time after time. He is an excellent leader, great storyteller and became my lifelong friend." Lt. Col Ed Yeilding-Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame- Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird West Coast to East Coast Aircraft speed record. "The first time I met Grover, I was enthralled by the content and delivery of his storytelling. His colorful recollections of his flying career in the military were conveyed with passion, suspense and humor. For anyone who relishes firsthand accounts of the obstacles and feats of a highly decorated airman during and after Vietnam, Grover's stories will leave you in awe." Gene Peroni, President of Peroni Portfolios Advisors, Inc. "Flight to Gold is a gripping, fun read, as told as If I were sitting down, chatting for days with an experienced Vietnam veteran pilot. Great stories about flying various aircraft, then the plot takes a hard left turn and starts racing down the road. It's a gripping page turner with surprise twists and ending. Strongly recommend!" Dave Jacobs, President, TechKnowledge Consulting F. Scott Morgan evolves from a college kid from Odessa, Texas to a mature fighter pilot under an excess of stress, risk, and survival. The much quoted phrase "flying is hours and hours of boredom only to be interrupted by moments of stark terror" appears to be his forte. Except the stark terror is hours, not moments. The Great Scott, his nickname, builds character and excitment through his early years as a combat pilot, only to be sidetracked by a modern term we call "the dark side." He will encounter love and war and forced to make decsions that will bend his moral character and judgement. This book follows an historical time line, injected with adreniline, twists and suprises. Even though it is purely fiction, you may believe it is factual.. JGW Travis Air Force Base, 1974. The same tarmac where F.
