Memory is not just for remembering past events; it’s mainly for anticipating the future. We create experiences, and with them, the rules for acting in the world. Therefore, we only retain what our Cognitive System deems useful and adaptive. The memory techniques presented in this book are designed to help us acquire, organize, and recall the information we want to keep, using the natural mechanisms of memory, and permanently storing it in our memory warehouses. These techniques were chosen based on their ability to be used in everyday circumstances, from studying and working to normal daily life, and they don’t require strenuous effort to learn or exhausting practice to perfect. Once the process is understood, anyone will be able to use them with ease.
