Just because she’s made AARP doesn’t mean she’s DOA. Take it from sixty-plus Margot Manning. The family vultures are chomping at the bit to grab her considerable fortune, so they petition to become her conservators. But they haven’t a clue how strong she still is. Currently, that means solving some highly suspicious deaths. Feisty Old Ladies is the razor-sharp and riotous crime novel by Cynthia Weitz that shadows one irrepressible senior who finds herself the reluctant resident of Shady Palms life-care center. The captivating socialite may still be the toast of the tony set, but after Margot stumbles in her stilettos and is sent to recuperate at Shady Palms, they just may have her by the Achilles heels. She counts on support from her handsome Danish beau until he fetches an adorable young lawyer—ostensibly to help. Margot repays him in kind with her own new flirtations. At Shady Palms, Margot meets other formidable femmes, and when she starts poking into the confounding demises of two pet patients, these gal pals join her in unmasking the culprit. This mystery offers double doses of entertaining antics and a refreshing take on just how fierce and fun life is after age sixty! “Weitz has admirably created a senior sleuth who is not a Miss Marple type but instead a fun-loving fashionista who likes to flirt and (gasp!) have sex. Through her nursing-home setting and conservator subplot, the author effectively exposes the vulnerabilities and insecurities that older people, particularly women, face in today’s society. Weitz never lets this occasionally meandering narrative stay downbeat for long, however, and leaves readers looking forward to the next adventures featuring this lively, life-affirming protagonist. An affecting, amusing whodunit that defies ageist stereotypes”—Kirkus Reviews “Congratulations to Cynthia on her mystery, Feisty Old Ladies. It's delightful and culturally rich as well as a darn good "who done it.” Her travel experiences, culinary savvy, and knowledge of the arts are evident throughout. It's the kind of book that cries out for more of the same, so sign me up right now for a copy of the next romp with Margot and crew.”—Helene Wright, author of Someone Stole Yesterday “There is so much fun and wisdom in the tale, it’s sure to be a hit.”—Ellen Larson, Mystery Writer/Editor Cynthia Weitz is a writer whose work has appeared in the Orange Herring newsletter for Sisters in Crime Orange County, Mused-The Bella online literary review, The Cynic Online , and publications of Saddleback College: The Wall Literary Journal and Reflections.
