I started a journal today. Actually, I continued an old journal... I needed a place to write down all that has happened because I have a story to tell, and I swear it is all true. It’s about magic. If you’re reading this, I know you may not believe me at first, but hang in there until the end, and then see what you think. Eleanor Francesca, or Elf for short, is a normal girl who lives in a normal house in a normal neighborhood. But when her grandmother gives her a fairy village for her birthday, she finds out there is much more to her normal life than she expected. Over the course of a summer, Elf discovers that magic is, in fact, real. Fairies do exist, and Elf soon finds out that they need her help. But fairies aren't the only magical creatures circling her backyard. There are dragons too, hiding in plain sight. Elf believes she must protect the fairies from the dragons. Afterall, everyone knows that dragons are very dangerous. In addition to being hunted, the fairies have lost their magic stone, a stone that is the source of magic for all creatures. Without the stone, the fairies will lose their power. Yet, after talking with her first dragon, Elf learns that all may not be what it seems. Yes, the magic stone must be found. But is it really the fairies that need protecting? Or could it be the dragons who are also searching for the stone that need help? As the summer flies by, Elf learns more about her own family's magical history and about finding her own strength. She must make important decisions about who to trust and who to believe. Throughout her journey, Elf starts to look differently at the world around her. Ultimately it will be up to Elf to decide what happens next, and what she will do with magic.
