The Five Critical Elements of the Healthy Individual is a behavior model based on education practices that can be applied to the development of healthy lifestyle behaviors. It is designed as a cyclical process in which each of the five domains are revisited throughout the progression of the model. 5-CEHI applies components from several time tested behavior and learning models such as the Transtheoretical, Hooked, COM-B, Experiential and Active Learning models as well as concepts from classical models such as Operant and Classical Conditioning. The application of the model itself revolves around the strengthening of critical thinking skills and cognitive awareness surrounding personal health. The focus of 5-CEHI is tailored to the unique individual instead of en masse in order to recognize the variation in desired healthy lifestyle outcomes for each person. The five domains include Unique Definition of Success, Personal Objectives, Healthy Lifestyles, Health Independence, and Deliberate Education. The latter of the five elements is the most crucial as deliberate education provides the foundation for critical thinking, cognitive awareness, and the ability to create informed personal objectives for improved health. The education component continues throughout all phases of the model. This book is divided into three sections. The first gives scientific and research data review of the impact of the health crisis facing America and the world at broad. It also provides a brief history of some contributing factors to the contemporary health crisis spanning decades including the deleterious introduction of highly processed foods and corporate sedentary workplaces. The second section provides a brief introduction and application of learning and behavior models supporting 5-CEHI. The third section both introduces the model and provides detailed lessons and practices for personal application and adoption in order to achieve health independence.
