An unlikely hero. An unfinished ship. Humanity's last hope. Ryan Anders has spent his life fighting for a place in a world that doesn’t want him. Chosen by lottery to attend the Fleet Academy, he learned quickly that survival means knowing when to keep your head down. Until the day the sky fills with fire. Without warning, an alien armada descends, shattering Earth’s defenses and scattering its fleet in a storm of confusion and retreat. Amid the chaos, Ryan seizes an unfinished warship. The plan is simple: get his friends clear of the slaughter. But the moment they break orbit, the plan is gone. Now they are cut off, flying blind, forgotten. Their enemy does not speak. Does not negotiate. And they will not stop until humanity is dust. REVIEW An action/adventure science fiction novel that demonstrates author Dan Thornton's master of genre, "Fleet of the Forgotton" is original, exceptional, deftly crafted, and a fun read from cover to cover and launches a new science fiction series 'Exiles War'. The kind and quality of story that was the mainstay of a yesteryear Golden Age of science fiction magazines and books, "Fleet of the Forgotton" is especially and unreservedly recommended for the personal reading lists of dedicated science fiction fans and is a prized pick for community/public library Science Fiction collections. -Midwest Book Review REVIEW There are few tropes I love better than Found Family. Whether it's Firefly 's petty thieves, Stargate's teams or Star Trek: Prodigy's teens stealing an advanced ship - hey, that sounds familiar, doesn't it? - I lap it up every time. So I knew I was going to enjoy this one just from the blurb. And I was right! It's not quite as cosy as some others; the danger is very, very real, and even before the Attack Ryan's life in the Academy is no bed of roses. However, it's very well thought out, with the science and traditions making sense in this universe. I love seeing how different authors tackle the physics of space travel, and this one was very clever. Dan has obviously thought things through very carefully and it shows in the writing. Little details I hadn't thought about before paint a picture of a society used to living in space - and the unfinished ship shows what happens when those systems aren't in place to act as a safety net. [...] If you have any interest in sci fi, alien attacks, found family or brilliant adventure stories, this is a great read for you. - Reedsy Discovery REVIEW Author Dan Thornton created a wonderful story of resilience, courage, and leadership. The story is packed with action, suspense, mystery, and twists that had me in awe. I loved how Ryan was introduced. He wasn't larger than life or a macho man; he was a simple guy who had the responsibility of the world on his shoulders, and he carried it with pride and honor. While the concept of an alien invasion isn't exactly new, it is handled so perfectly that it makes reading this story eventful. The author effectively builds a sense of urgency and high stakes with the sudden and devastating alien invasion that forces the characters into a desperate fight for survival. [...] This is a great start to a series that I know will be fantastic! - Readers' Favorite Dan Thornton is a sci-fi author who has traded F-14 Tomcats for spaceships. A Navy veteran of the Gulf War, he uses his military experience to ground his debut novel, Fleet of the Forgotten, in reality. Off the page, Dan is still chasing adrenaline-whether he's riding motorcycles or cosplaying at Comic-Con.
