Highly pigmented professional grade artist oil paint Protect finished painting from direct sunlight. Fluorescent colors are not lightfast, but our experience shows they will hold their chroma even when left exposed for many months in indirect Florida sunlight. This experience is echoed in anecdotes provided by customers. It is however the inherent nature of these colors that, as they "fluoresce," they expend their potential energy and will eventually deplete themselves. How long this takes is uncertain and highly dependent on a painting's incident light conditions. There are several interesting articles on the conservation of these pigments. Fluorescent Colors are bound in alkali refined linseed oil with the exception of Fluorescent Magenta and Fluorescent Pink which are bound in alkali refined safflower oil and alkali refined walnut oil respectively. Our Fluorescent Orange is bound in alkali refined linseed oil with 10% soy alkyd resin included to improve rheology.
