Airports of Western Washington and Oregon form the backdrop for flying adventures in the Pacific Northwest. Take the controls of a Piper Arrow, as your personal flight instructor leads you to out-of-the-way spots where recreational aircraft provide the freedom to pursue cherished goals. Hints for cross-county and local flying presented by a 7000-hour FAA certified flight instructor. For armchair pilots and experienced pros, this book is an escape so realistic you’ll swear you’re airborne. My first book on the topic of flying was published in 2009 ('Up the Airway'). When I decided to depart from my normal writing genre (travelogue memoirs), I decided to test the waters with a book about flying. Aviation is something I know well, particularly from the flight instructor's point of view. I wanted to write a book for non-pilots as well as experienced aviators, while keeping the focus on the British Columbia coast. However, most of my flight experience was in the United States as a commercial pilot and CFI.Over time, I researched material for a book about flying in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, flying to airports in Washington and Oregon to accumulate pertinent information. My approach in this new book ('Flying the Pacific Northwest') has been to describe the details of flight, from takeoff to landing, adding cross-country experiences that should keep my pilot audience entertained. But flying is flying, whether it be in a Cessna 172 in Canada or a Piper Arrow in the United States. In  this book, I've attempted to bring the reader, including the armchair pilot, into the cockpit. In fact, I've handed my readers the flight controls, and told them: 'Follow me through.' I hope you decide to join me in taking the controls of my Arrow and flying with me to some of the greatest destinations in the Pacific Northwest.
