The year is 1936. Eighteen-year-old Erika Lehmann lives in Washington, D.C., with her parents. Her German father serves as press secretary for the German Ambassador to the United States. Erika befriends another young woman, a cub reporter for a Washington newspaper. The free-spirited and thrill-seeking Erika tags along with her new friend during the fledgling reporter’s quest to interview a New York City crime boss and gain herself a promotion to full-time reporter. The two naïve young women swiftly find themselves embroiled with the mob on an adventure that is not only dangerous and frightening at times but comedic, as well.
