Perhaps the greatest of the Promises offered by the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is "We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace." Yet many long-term members of various 12-Step programs glimpse that peace only rarely, if at all. Is there some sort of secret to experiencing peace more frequently and more deeply? And if so, where is it to be found? It's no secret, and it's actually in the Big Book. But we have to go looking for it, and that may mean we may have to stop holding on to some of our old ideas if we're to find it. Offering a new and closer reading of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, this booklet outlines the four elements we need for peace in recovery, and describes how to make them a part of our daily practice. It is essentially an updated, broader, and simpler version of Unpopular Studies in the Last Three Steps , and is appropriate for both old-timers and newcomers in all 12-Step programs.
