Covering four centuries in the Black Forest, western Poland, southwestern Russia and western Canada, Four Promised Lands tells the story of the author's German ancestors. It focused on the Stickel and Seitz families, as they sojourned through Four Promised Lands, looking for better lives as conditions deteriorated in each place. Filled with numerous photos, illustrations and maps, Four Promised Lands goes beyond the broad political, social and religious events that impacted these families. It gives the reader important insights into their social history—how they lived day to day—as colonists and settlers.
