If you watch television or read newspapers, you have probably noticed a sharp increase in unusual delinquencies and cruel crimes among juveniles. In most of these cases, the juvenile criminals were raised by parents who do not know how to rear children. It is not the purpose of this book to find a culprit, but, rather, to investigate the fundamental causes of such phenomena in the world. In this book, I will avoid the assumption that juvenile crime is caused by unusual methods of rearing by parents, because this assumption places all the responsibility on these unusual methods. Furthermore, in this book, I distance myself from theories about the effects of a mother's irresponsibility and father's indifference in rearing.
