Here is Hollywood Alley, a joint at the end of a strip center on the corner of E. Baseline Road and the 101 in Mesa, AZ. It began as a family affair and evolved into a neighborhood cafe by day and live alternative rock music bar by night. At the center of it all is Rachel Hrutkay, or "Grandma" to all who know her. This cookbook is a compilation of recipes that Grandma used for the daily specials she cooked, the bar snacks, soups, pizza, desserts, cookies and catering requests. These recipes are unapologetic for their fat and carb content. They are recipes for down-home cooking, generated out of Western Pennsylvania with Belgian and Czechoslovakian underpinnings, perfected in the family and launched to the public at Hollywood Alley, an ultra-chic, hip dive bar (with Grandma's cooking) in Meza, AZ. The Alley closed in July, 2013. Here are some of Grandma's secrets.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
