When I came into a recovery program for alcoholism at the age of 47, it was the first time I experienced a twelve step recovery program. I thought, as I worked the steps with a sponsor, that this program was what I had been looking for my whole life. The principles that the program espoused were principles that I had always admired, but had rarely practiced.
