From the Rhine to the Congaree is the story of the 270 year odyssey of the Wise and Earley families from Europe to America. The author traces the two families from southern Germany and northern Switzerland to South Carolina in the early 1750s. Each succeeding generation is explored and placed in the historical context of the times. Through war and peace, these hardy and courageous European farmers carved out an existence and raised families in the New World. Hundreds of pictures and numerous maps denote their progress down to the present generation.
