Author Athens Alston is a young girl growing up in Maryland who suffers from Bipolar disorder. In her memoir, she details her rough life of alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, and teen pregnancy and how she has survived in her unstable world. Athens Alston is a 40-year-old, married mother of six children ranging in age from twenty-one to one years old. She is originally from Washington, D.C. and more recently has relocated to Southern California to settle into life and further her education. She is currently enrolled at Irvine Valley college to obtain a degree in Sociology so she can work with adolescents in the judicial system, group homes, and transitioning into adulthood. In addition to writing, her hobbies include journaling, painting, puzzles, and reading.
