Installation:
step 1: Pull them apart, pinch small clumps, and place near gas ports on burner pan.
step 2: Place small amounts of rock wool on logs where the flames "lick" the logs for ember effects.
step 3: Many installers use hard-bristled brushes to "flick" a dusting of wool material on a log to add a wonderful glowing effect where the flame touches.

Note:
Be careful not to clump it on the gas ports because the flame has to "breathe".
