In this novel, the facts of what occurred on the Mississippi Gulf Coast during Hurricane Katrina are illustrated in-depth. While New Orleans received a lot of media attention, the Gulf Coast went largely ignored by the news media. This novel was written to capture the stories of folks who survived the storm in MS. While there are brushes of New Orleans included, the book contains first-hand stories by way of many local interviews. These are real people with real stories of survival. There is also a pictorial appendix with photos during that time as well as archives in and around Biloxi, MS.
