Genesis is the beginning of the greatest love ever known. First, God so loved humanity that he gave them dominion over all other creations. Second, he set Adam and Eve into a perfect, lush, paradisal garden environment in which they would live forever if they were obedient. Third, when our first parents were misled into unfaithfulness and received the penalty for sin, he promised one would come from them that would defeat the enemy, one who would redeem humanity. Genesis is also the love story of the first patriarchs God chose to establish his covenant with, a covenant that would benefit all people. It is the love story of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and possibly the greatest love triangle ever known, that of Jacob, Leah, and Rachel. The first book of the Bible begins with the beginning, the creation of life. It ends with death, but throughout the narrative runs the theme of love, the Road to Redemption, and the promise of the hope of glory that Paradise lost would be regained.
