In Umbra River, California, the closets are full of skeletons. Unsettled spirits. Missing children. Family secrets. The Geode Cafe and Bookshop is the nucleus of life and friendship where, on Friday nights, Olivia, the owner, hosts her two best friends over dinner and wine. Anna, who owns Besties, a pet rescue and supply store next door, is a psychic animal communicator and a non-practicing veterinarian. Emmaline, a young widow, is a trauma survivor trying to find her way. She's also the mother to Charlie, a four-year-old with a psychic gift. Woven into the town's history are stories of the mistreatment of 19th century immigrant workers, a forgotten massacre, and unrequited grief. Eavesdrop as the three women struggle to make sense of their lives while current events terrorize and mobilize the community. Corliss Corazza is a retired educator and writing tutor. She loves being outdoors and has an affinity for all animals. When time permits, she dabbles in piano and photography. Corliss is also passionate about VW bugs. Always red. She had a 1999 bug she loved but had to let him go when he just wouldn't stop catching fire. No one seemed to be able to diagnose the trouble. With a heavy heart, she sold Bug and bought another in 2019. One of the last of the Beetle models. She resides in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband Dave, Goldendoodle Sophia, who accompanies her when gardening, and twin orange tabbies. Geode is her second book and first novel.
