The coins were melted down, shaped, and hammered to their final form (the final product was called "coin silver", and it's still collected today). Lafayette is a beautiful rendition of the hand-hammered flatware of the colonial period. Made in a shiny finish, in a heavy weight. It's currently the only 'teardrop' handle shape available in the hammered style. The hammered finish also appears on the reverse side. Designed by Wes Helmick.
