Are you ready to go deep on sleep? In a world buzzing with screens, deadlines, late-night shopping, and ever-present blue light, sleep has become something we hope for rather than something we can rely on. In a refreshing, conversational guide, behavioral sleep specialist Dr. Brad Wolgast breaks down why modern living quietly sabotages our rest and reveals how simple adjustments can restore your built-in sleep signals. Through relatable personal stories, such as his battle with sleep apnea and a life-changing car accident when he fell asleep at the wheel, examples of people he’s helped from all walks of life, and timely research, Dr. Wolgast brings clarity, compassion, and humor to a topic that affects everyone. Gold Medal Sleep presents achievable, inexpensive steps anyone can take to have more restful nights. Whether you choose to go for the gold or are content with silver or bronze medal sleep, Dr. Wolgast has three levels of sleep plans. Each shows how small changes can awaken your body’s natural rhythm and help you be your best self—energized, thinking clearly, and fully charged. At the heart of the book is “camping in,” a flexible approach to reclaiming your evenings. This isn’t a clinical sleep-disorder manual; it’s an accessible field guide for untangling the disordered habits our modern world has created. You’ll learn when to avoid screens, when to embrace blue light, and even how to use caffeine strategically. Whether nighttime is consistently stressful or you just need tools every now and then to get some shut-eye, Gold Medal Sleep is your dream come true. “ Gold Medal Sleep deserves a place among the classics of modern sleep writing. Brad Wolgast speaks directly to readers with warmth, clarity, and a rare kind of honesty that instantly builds trust. Too many insomnia self-help books rely on fear and intimidation to drive change; this one takes the more effective and humane path of growth through education. It’s funny when it needs to be, scientifically rigorous throughout, and consistently engaging. Humans may indeed be the only animals capable of developing a sleep disorder simply by worrying about sleep, but we are also the only ones clever enough to write books like this that fix it.” —W. Chris Winter, MD, author of The Sleep Solution and The Rested Child “In Gold Medal Sleep , Dr. Brad Wolgast provides a brief, accessible, and friendly introduction to the science of behavioral sleep and circadian health. It is practical, straightforward, and easy to read, but it also keeps itself firmly planted in established, well-validated sleep strategies. Rather than chasing trends, Dr. Wolgast reminds readers of the power of the fundamentals and maintaining a healthy frame of reference when approaching sleep health.” —Michael Grandner, MTR, CBSM, FAASM, director of the Sleep and Health Research Program, University of Arizona, and director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic, Banner-University Medical Center “Dr. Wolgast brings together his personal experiences and professional expertise to offer a compelling and accessible approach to resetting the circadian rhythm through the idea of ‘camping in.’ The idea is simple, elegant, and aligns beautifully with what we know about sleep science. This is a warm, engaging, and practical guide that reflects Dr. Wolgast’s clinical skill and his genuine care for the people he serves.” —Kristi E.
