Good Friday and Other Misconceptions is a collection of five graphic short stories told through language and art. Each story's accompanying art is unique, leaving the reader to ask, Does the art elaborate upon the language or vice versa? Each tale creates its own world, from wartime in 1990s Yugoslavia and its neighboring countries to a tattoo studio somewhere in Mexico. Taken from Garcia's life and imagination, the stories and art have the reader firmly tethered to earth and then lessen their grip, allowing for the fantastical. Each tale is an honest excavation into the author's heart, revealing the highly nuanced human experience.
