Buddy recalls being born in Kansas and having many brothers and sisters who grew up on the farm with him. When strange grown-ups began showing up at the farm to look at the puppies, Buddy's mother explained to him and his sisters that the time has come for them to leave the farm and be adopted out to new families. Soon afterward, his brothers and sisters began leaving one by one for their forever homes. Buddy waited patiently for his new family to come and take him home. Because Buddy wasn't tan like the rest of his siblings, he was overlooked. He knew he was different and that made him sad, but he continued to wait for his forever family. When he asked his mom why everyone else was adopted except him, she explained that it wasn't his time yet. Then came the day that Buddy's family finally came for him. They came from far away just to pick him up because he was that special to them. His forever home had become a reality. I thought Good Things Take Time was a really cute and informative read. It also includes some good lessons that are beneficial to children. Patience is a virtue that I would say a child has a difficult time understanding. The title of the book itself sends a message; good things do take time. It can be used in many scenarios when it comes to kids. Also, I don't know if Suzanna Lynn meant this message but I also interpreted the term 'adopt don't shop' when it comes to pets. There are many animals in shelters and other places that are looking for their forever homes. Overall, I think it's a great book to share with your children.
