GoodGollyMollyMe is a compilation of 50 newsletters posted on the writer's platform, Substack. All are filled with simple loving, hope filled anecdotes, somewhat scatterbrained—of an unending series of dog and man triumphs; me and Molly, my wife Susan and Molly, Molly and the world—as she lifts our spirits in every imaginable way, from the dark places that confronted us when we first returned two and a half years ago to Portland, after working twenty-five years overseas. We struggled to find our bearings in a country we no longer recognized. And then Molly happened, a big bushy, bourbon colored, unrecognizable breed, playing an unscripted role in helping us adjust to a world gone crazy. We had been making slow strides, but those strides turned into a full gallop with the arrival of our new dog. I promised all readers that my letters would be free of politics, anger, frustration, cynacism, and despair, but a means to start each day with good coffee, a warm heart, and sunshine where there might be none. So far, from comments and an increasing number of followers, I have been true to my word.
