Great Aunt Esme’s Pasty Shop, a light-hearted cosy mystery, is the eighth and penultimate book in the Pentrillick Cornish Mystery series. August 2021 and in Pentrillick things are changing. The antiques shop has ceased trading causing villagers to speculate on the building’s future use, and at the end of the month the fish and chip shop is due to change hands. The weather is unsettled. Numerous people are in the village, most on holiday, a few for an extended break. As the August Bank Holiday draws near, the weather improves. People gather outdoors to enjoy the sun. Spirits are high, optimism if rife and then out of the blue a talented young musician is found dead. Initially it’s assumed his death is the result of a tragic accident, but the police are not convinced and neither are sexagenarian twin sisters, Hetty and Lottie. But who would want him dead? The victim was well-liked and not of the area. No obvious motive, suspects or dodgy characters spring to mind. Clues are scarce. The case seems at a standstill. Not wanting the young man’s death to be filed away as unexplained or merely suspicious, the inquisitive sisters take it upon themselves to investigate further, with of course, a little help from their friends. In Pentrillick, some things never change.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
