The entire unit is held solidly in place, whether up or down, with use of a regular hitch pin. The ML500SCF weighs only 48 lbs., fits all regular 2” hitch receivers and has a total weight capacity of 400 lbs. The ML500SCF comes with 1 hitch pin for use with the folding mechanism on this model.
