APPLICATION RATE
Place the barley straw in shallow water in a sunny location; putting it in a stream, waterfall or near constant water movement is ideal. For the best results, split the barley straw bale into smaller 4 to 8 ounce clumps and space them along the water's perimeter. Apply about 4 ounces of barley straw per 1,000 gallons of water. Reapply the barley straw every 4 to 6 months. Putting the barley straw in a mesh bag is helpful before placing it in the water.
