It is our hope that this book lays a foundation to help grievers understand common reactions to their loss(es), validate their grief responses, encourage the telling of their story, and provide supportive advice to family and friends. This new model has eliminated stages, expectations, tasks, timelines, and the expectation of closure.Part III – The “R” Words: An interactive exercise that allows grievers to select a word and apply it to any part of their grief journey. Talking about the event, the feelings, the loss, the present, and the future is a critical part of the grieving process.Part IV – Supporting the Griever: Suggestions on how to interact and support the griever. Lisa Zoll, LCSW graduated with her MSW from TempleHarrisburg in 2003.  She worked as aClinical Psychiatric Specialist at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in theirAdult Partial Hospitalization program and Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic for 12years.  In 2008, she began teaching Loss& Grief and Assessment and the DSM as an Adjunct Instructor at TempleUniversity Harrisburg in the School of Social Work.  In 2014 she was hired as a full-timeinstructor in the Master of Social Work program and teaches Loss & Griefand Assessment and the DSM along with many of the foundation courses for theprogram.   Lynn Shiner is an award-winning author whodedicated most of her career to crime victims after she experienced a tragedyof her own.  Her young children, Jen andDave, were murdered on Christmas Day 1994. As the Director of the PennsylvaniaOffice of Victims' Services, she oversaw the distribution of more than $100million dollars in state and federal funding to meet the needs of crime victimsthroughout the Commonwealth. She's the recipient of countless awards includingthe National Crime Victim Service Award presented by John Ashcroft and theVisionary Voice Award by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
