The memoir follows the author’s early life in Rural West Virginia to his University career in Ohio. He vividly describes his life growing up during the 1930’s and 40’s on a self-sufficient farm in the mountains of Southern West Virginia; his experiences on the front line in the last year of the Korean War; and his leaving West Virginia to pursue his professional career. The memoir ends with his fond recollections of his six siblings.
