Award-winning YA Fantasy for fans of Good Omens and Cruel Prince All that stands between the 6000 year old secret of immortality and the end of the world are the Guardians of the Garden.   Rejected by her family and her town, Miriam  Miller wants nothing more than to turn her back on Edenia and forsake the new, invasive magic which makes her a Guardian of the Garden of Eden. In the outside world she could be free from the garden, free to lead her own life, and free to forget that she is a freak.  When Seth Johnson's sister starts losing her battle with cancer, their family moves to the USA with hopes of saving her. Only that's not what happens at all. Seth finds himself in the tiny town of Edenia, with a dying sister and parents that seem to have given up. Seth vows to go to whatever lengths he must to save his sister; even if that means stealing secrets, betraying parents, or risking his own heart. Neither Seth nor Miriam want to be caught up in the tide of fate and feelings destined for them, but with such harshly opposing goals their worlds are bound to collide.  Pocock takes her readers to a land where magic, folklore and reality merge, where love is strong, fear runs deep, and the end of the world is coming.  "Beautifully written and cleverly crafted a story." Jennadb from Amazon "It was a can't-put-it down kind of book!" Scott Bowen from Amazon "End of the world fantasy that left me excited for more!" Theresa M. Oliver from Amazon READER'S FAVORITE GOLD MEDAL WINNER Enchanting folklore mixed with contemporary struggles. If you liked THE CRUEL PRINCE you'll love the GUARDIANS OF THE GARDEN! --D.J. Butler, author of WITCHY EYE Pocock's writing is, in turn, lyrical, humorous, tense, and introspective. Her combination of relatable, clever dialogue and soul-searching prose gives each of her characters a three-dimensional feel. The mystery surrounding Edenia's origins and powers are revealed with excellent pacing. The author trusts the reader to make inferences based on what they might be familiar with, but also incorporates an engaging, original take on the existence and purpose of the Garden of Eden. --Jessica Lawson, author of NOOKS AND CRANNIES I was lucky enough to get ahold of an ARC of this book during a phase when I wasn't reading much and wasn't really interested in reading. This book broke right through that mental barrier. From the first chapter Pocock pulled me right into a complex and marvelous world. --Melanie Atkinson, author of SEA DWELLERS It's nice when you find a book with characters that have real depth to them without sacrificing on the plot. --Erica Mills, author of KEEPING HOUSE Hello all, Theresa here. This story is my baby. It has kept me up late at night and woke me up with magical scenes that demanded to be written. I have a degree in History and study Mythology and Folktales as well as holy grail legends. This book started with a question, "What about Cherubim? What if the legend of a tree whose fruit could give eternal life were true?" This of course lead me into interesting places. I further wondered "What if the Garden of Eden, with its Tree of Life, were actually on the earth." The final piece to this puzzle was my own Native American heritage. I have been fascinated by the history and legends of Indigenous Americans and making that culture the backstory of Edenia felt so cool. After that, writing characters into such a magical and fantastical place was a real pleasure. I hope so much that you enjoy it.   ***Because of the history this topic suggests I feel it important to make a disclaimer:  This work is meant to be purely fantastical. It is based on the folklore surrounding the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life, which exist in many ancient cultures. And though the Edenians have a certain culture of morality, any correlation or similarity to any religion or creed is happenstance.*** At the heart of the backward and isolated town of Edenia lives a secret kept safe for six thousand years. All that stands between this secret and the end of the world are the Guardians of the Garden. *** These powerful Guardians forsake all to protect the Tree of Life from everyday mortals, but Miriam has developed a new and invasive power which, even in a town of magical beings, makes her a freak. Miriam wants nothing more than to live in the "real" world where her powers will disintegrate, but all her dreams for escape are frustrated with the arrival of a former Guardian to Edenia. When the secretive newcomer threatens the Garden of Eden from within, Miriam must transcend her resentment and utilize the power she hates in order to become the Guardian she was always meant to be. Theresa has been writing for fifteen years and has more story ideas than she could possibly write and still have a life. She is an avid audible 'reader', board game lover, Zelda player, book collector, adventure chaser, and history 'studier', besides being a mother of three, a mus
