Baseball used to be America's favorite game but it was not open to everyone. African Americans who once played were no longer allowed to play on white teams near the end of the nineteenth century. But that didn't stop them from playing the game they loved. So began the Negro Leagues which would play alongside the Major Leagues. This would go on until Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. So many players, like Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and Cool Papa Bell were big stars in the league and the Major League players knew it. This is the story of the Negro Leagues, the players, managers, and others that made it great. May we never forget them.
