Every student deserves to be seen. Every graduate deserves to be celebrated. At the Lavender Graduation Legacy Project , we believe that recognition matters—especially for LGBTQ+ students whose identities and journeys are too often overlooked. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to support schools and organizations in hosting meaningful, inclusive Lavender Graduation ceremonies through training, resources, and inspiration. It is also why we are developing the Lavender Graduation Archives, to gather, protect and preserve our Lavender Graduation history. Lavender Graduations honor the resilience, brilliance, and achievements of LGBTQ+ students. These ceremonies create affirming spaces that say: you belong, you matter, we see you . But many schools don’t know where to start—or lack the tools to make it happen. That’s where this book comes in. We’re not just helping schools host events; We’re building a national legacy of LGBTQ+ affirmation and celebration. Written by the founder of the Lavender Graduation, Dr. Ronni Sanlo and her wife Dr Kelly Watson, this book takes the reader through LGBTQ history in higher education and with Lavender Graduation. It offers support for those wishing to host Lavender Graduations at colleges and universities, high schools and community organizations.
