Harry was appointed Sheriff just in time to mobilize a posse and catch thieves robbing Pondville’s general store. With daring, wild antics and a few accidents, the posse captures the robbers who soon learn that crime does not pay. "Reading Harry and the Hooligans by Dr. Robert A. Ernst is like immersing yourself in chaos and comedy in a world of animal personifications... Readers will chuckle and laugh aloud as I did throughout at the hooligans' shenanigans, the wacky characters, and incredible drawings. All this, along with Dr. Robert A. Ernst's discussion guide, provides endless opportunities for fun and teaching." -Jon Michael Miller for Readers' Favorite "Young readers will learn that crime does not pay and to think before they act-all subliminally! The story teaches compassion and the need to make amends through positive actions and jail time (time out!) for doing things that cause harm to others. Harry and the Hooligans touches upon pack mentality, which is so dangerous and prevalent today. This is a very endearing, funny, and worthwhile book for children. They will laugh out loud. As in the first book of the Dr. Bob's Tales series, the characters are real as well as lovable, most with good hearts in spite of their flaws." -Beth Blozie, artist "Pondville's imaginative community of unique animals and relationships will delight readers and parents alike! Colorful language, right and wrong, enriched vocabulary, and sequential outcomes all play a part. With guidance and using the discussion section, readers will learn lessons in problem solving and life skills! Overall, the characters are relatable, feelings are understood, and problems are solved." -Patricia Spano, artist and educator "Harry and the Hooligans jumps off the pages, tackling themes of fearlessness, loyalty, and stressing the importance of being an independent thinker. Harry is an everyday hero, intent on righting the wrongs of society. He leaves in his wake a community intent on learning from hard lessons. Jump in!" -Kevin Nevins, educator Dr. Robert A. Ernst is a retired orthodontist who practiced in central Connecti-cut for more than forty years. His education was interrupted when he joined the Air Force. He became a 1st lieutenant during the Vietnam era, before resuming his educational goals. His early career as an author began in the form of a storyteller. Known as Dr. Bob, he created tales about the animals that lived around the pond at Foxhill Acres, his home in Nova Scotia, Canada. He delighted neighboring children with the stories. In more recent years, his wife Ann convinced him to write down the stories in a series of books, and Dr. Bob's Pondville was created. More tales are on the way. Dr. Bob and Ann divide their time between Florida and Nova Scotia. Rose E. Grier Evans is an award-winning book illustrator and has been a professional artist for more than thirty years. She was delighted to work with the author, portraying his vision for Harry and the Hooligans, and illustrating his story with whimsical details. When not working on art projects, Rose is advocating for children or busy tending the goats on the family farm. She lives in North Central Florida with her husband, and enjoys spending time with their two grandchildren and other family members.
