Jeremy Clay is a landscaper trapped in a bad relationship in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When his best friend's family is killed in a terrorist attack on a small Florida town, Clay is inadvertently drawn into the heart of the nation's turmoil. During the weeks following, The president attempts to declare Marshal Law and delay upcoming elections while the Courts move to stop him. When it is discovered the terrorists were Americans with possible ties to the government, a Senate investigation is initiated. A massive rally is organized on the National Mall in Washington DC to demand the truth. As the world watches, the Senator in charge of the investigation is assassinated on live television, leaving Clay alone on stage.
