Rule-of-law violations and press freedom violations persist in Ecuador and Colombia; particularly on the Colombia-Ecuador frontier, a region now considered one of the world’s most deadliest for journalists – the shocking murder of journalist Javier Ortega, and his two travelling partners Paúl Rivas and Efraín Segarra, underlining this. Gender inequality also seems to be a major challenge in Ecuador and Colombia. According to the Amnesty International Report 2018, violence against women, particularly sexual violence, persisted in Colombia – as well as in Ecuador, as about 90% of Ecuadorian women who experience violence seem to be reluctant to take action against their perpetrator; because family problems are considered private matters in Ecuador. Critical, but also deeply sensitive and humane, this book endeavours to improve public policy in the South America, so that peace and harmony can be manifested in the region. Social challenges – such as crime, poverty and civil unrest – are also explored in this work. Covid-19: Ecuador has been described in April 2020 as emerging as the "epicentre" of the pandemic in Latin America. The city of Guayaquil has been overwhelmed to the point where bodies are being left in the street. The number of deaths is believed to be significantly higher than the official figure due to a low rate of testing, with many thousands of excess deaths reported compared to the equivalent figure for a normal period. From my side I hope that Ecuador is healed from the coronavirus as soon as possible. My prayers are with all people afflicted by the virus, calling on God’s help to manifest health and healing in Latin America and the International Community. According to the author, the institutes of Sociology in the world conduct mostly rather trivial and redundant research projects, having hardly any impact - most sociologists having entrenched themselves in an outdated scientific reality that is behind the times, and reluctant to go with the quantum approach of today's Information Age. Furthermore, many sociologists increasingly become propaganda tools for questionable political parties, taking on dubious assignments better left alone - such as conducting research studies for political parties under the assumption that 'A+B=C'; i.e. aiming to prove a faulty premiss prescribed by a political party. Also, according to the author, empiric hardliners working in the field of sociology increasingly play around with the SPSS program indefinitely until they think they have found some correlation between social phenomena; which is not scientific evaluation, because causalities and correlations of social phenomena are only present, if they adhere to scientific methodology and founded on coherent scientific theories and hypotheses. Even though empiric science goes a long way in sociology, it does not go all the way. As already Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand." This applies in particular to qualitative research, where the synergy between spiritual intelligence and empiric science is essential, in order to establish new links between facts, which may lead to new hypothesis and concepts in the science of social science. Therefore imagination, intuition, empathy and purpose are also required for researchers in the field of sociology; hence it is important to hone and train these essential prerequisites, which this book will teach sociologists to do. It is also important to emphasize, that inequality and poverty are increasing dramatically in the Republic of Austria. Hence Sociologists should advocate the implementation of a Basic Income Guarantee (BIG); which would be necessary to guarantee basic human rights and to stop the discrimination and victimization of unemployed people - which causes numerous psycho-social diseases, such as major depressive disorder (MDD). It should also be noted, that the contribution of Sociology as a whole - to improve equality, equity and basic human rights - is absolute zero.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
