This service kit replaces the fuel pump on Johnson Evinrude BRP outboard motors, designed as a non-oiling VRO pump replacement Fits V6 60 Degree Looper model motors rated 150 to 175 HP, ensuring compatibility with these specific engines. Features a double-diaphragm design for V6 motors, slightly larger in size, requiring minor modification by removing a small portion of the bracket Includes a fuel pump with an aluminum bracket, hoses, zip ties, and detailed mounting instructions for easy installation Please refer to the installation guide and pictures provided to confirm compatibility with your engine before purchasing Requires a 50:1 gasoline-to-oil mix (1 pint of oil to 6 gallons of gasoline) in the fuel tank
Replacement VRO Fuel Pump Installation
- Yellow arrows in the diagram indicate the fuel flow direction.
- A fuel hose is provided to replace the hose from the vapor tank outlet to the fuel inlet on the new pump, which may be necessary if the original hose doesn't reach.
- Match the two original hoses (fuel-in and pulse) to the new pump as indicated.
- The fuel-out hose on the new pump includes a fitting that matches the VRO output fitting.
- Mount the new pump on the bracket, aligning the fitting with the input hole on the bracket (this view is not shown in the illustration but corresponds to the location where the VRO output fitting was originally positioned).
Bracket Modifications
- For 60° V6 Johnson/Evinrude motors, the replacement VRO fuel pump features a double-diaphragm design and is slightly larger than the one for V4 motors.
- To ensure proper fit, remove a small portion of the bracket (as shown in the illustration) to allow the rear diaphragm hose to clear the bracket.
- The original VRO bracket is made of plastic, making it easy to cut with tin snips or similar tools, usually without needing to remove it from the motor.
Final Installation Steps
- Mount the fuel pump so the fitting aligns with the port on the bracket where the VRO fitting was seated.
- Push the pump securely into place, then attach the fuel-in and pulse hoses.
- On many motors, you may need to replace the fuel-out hose from the bottom of the bracket to the new pump (the replacement hose is provided) if the original one doesn't reach.
This modification and installation guide ensures your replacement VRO fuel pump is properly fitted and functional.
