He has hiked over 10,000 miles of trails, from the Arctic Ocean to the Mexican border including all of the trails and routes in this book. Erik has a Master’s degree in wildlife management from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where he performed ground-breaking research on moose in Denali National Park. He currently serves as Executive Director for Western Watersheds Project, a nonprofit conservation group working to protect and restore watersheds and wildlife on public lands throughout the West.
